Objective

The student
- understands the importance of surgical patients' illnesses and procedures in nursing.
- knows how to take individuality into account in the planning, implementation and evaluation of surgical patient care.
- masters the methods of surgical patient monitoring and nursing.
- knows the principles of pain assessment and treatment methods in different phases of surgical patient care.
- understand the importance of promoting the health, functional capacity, rehabilitation and self-care of the surgical patient and next to kin.
- knows how to work aseptically and patient-safely in the different phases of surgical patient care.
- knows the principles of clean surgical wound care.

Content

Nursing and treatment methods for patients suffering from the most common surgical diseases
Pre- and post-operative care
Assessment of the surgical patient's nursing needs and comprehensive monitoring of the patient
Assessment of surgical patient's pain and medical treatment and treatment methods
Treatment of a clean surgical wound
Rehabilitation and guidance of the surgical patient
Documentation according to the national registration model

- knows the main features of the treatment path of a surgical patient.
- masters the basics of surgical patient preparations as well as post-surgery nursing care and nursing care methods.
- uses professional client-oriented clinical nursing skills in various surgical nursing learning situations in a limited manner.
- understands the importance of client-oriented and patient-safe operations in surgical care, taking ethical principles into account.
- knows the basics of professional decision-making skills in client-oriented surgical nursing work in learning/practice situations.

- applies the knowledge base of surgical nursing and evidence-based information smoothly.
- knows the different treatment paths of a surgical patient.
- knows the most common surgical patient preparations as well as post-operative care and nursing methods.

- does not use professional client-oriented clinical nursing skills sufficiently in different surgical nursing learning situations.
- does not show that he understands the importance of client-oriented and patient-safe operations in surgical care, taking into account ethical principles.
- does not show that he has the basics of professional decision-making skills in client-oriented surgical nursing work in learning / practice situations.
