Objective

Students will learn the functions of numerically controlled (NC) machines in today's field of engineering. They will understand NC programming and the manufacturing of products with an NC machine. The student can apply circular economy principles and material efficiency in manufacturing processes.

Content

The module covers the following areas: computer-aided manufacturing environments, tooling systems, machining parameters, machining coordinate systems, the operation of CAM software, and NC programming using a 3D model of the product. The course includes exercises using the MasterCAM software. Circular economy principles and material efficiency in manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

No previous studies are required.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Level 1 - 2: Students are familiar with CAM-program and the basic NC-machine operations

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Level 3 - 4: As above. In addition, students will be able to use the CAM-program for programming NC-programs for easy machined workpieces

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Level 5: As above. In addition, students will be able to use independently NC-machine workpieces manufacture and use CAM-software.
