Objective

The student
* knows the occupational health care service system as part of Social and Health Care Services.
* knows the main regulations related to occupational health care and is able to act in accordance with the principles of good occupational health care practice when planning and implementing nursing work that maintains and rehabilitates the health and working capacity of the working age and the work community.
* is able to identify and assess the importance of work, working conditions and work communities to the health and ability to work of the working age.
* is able to plan and implement a workplace visit and, on the basis of it, plan other occupational health care services, provide guidance and counseling, and make the necessary development proposals to promote the health and work ability of clients (individuals, families, groups, workplace, work or other communities).
* is able to work in multi-professional and multidisciplinary work communities and in various cooperation networks.
* is able to implement occupational health-oriented medical care.

Content

Occupational health care service system and its connections with stakeholders. Key legislation and guidelines concerning occupational health care and occupational safety, KELA compensation policy. Principles of good occupational health care practice, working life awareness. Design, implementation, and monitoring of occupational health services in occupational health co-operation based on workplace surveys. Identifying and contributing to the assessment of the work environment, working conditions, the work community and work health hazards, nuisances (exposures) and stressors, as well as resources. Work survey at the workplace. Exposure-based health examinations for working-age people, maintaining and promoting their ability to work, as well as follow-up at different stages of their careers (including job applicants). Various methods for assessing occupational health and ability to work, early support and rehabilitative activities. Major occupational diseases. Occupational health care / outpatient clinic.

The student
-knows the regulations related to occupational health care and is able to act sufficiently in accordance with the principles of occupational health care practices when planning and implementing nursing work that maintains and rehabilitates the health and working capacity of the working age and the work community.
-knows the occupational health care service process and participates in occupational health cooperation.
-identifies some of the implications of work, working conditions and the work community, as well as unemployment for the health and working capacity of the working age population.
-is able to plan and implement a workplace visit and, on the basis of it, plan some occupational health care services, provide guidance and counseling, and make some development suggestions to promote the health and work ability of clients (individual, work community, workplace).
-is able to plan and carry out some exposure-based and work-maintaining health examinations.
-is able to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-professional work communities and in various cooperation networks.
-is able to implement occupational health-focused medical care.

The student
-knows the regulations related to occupational health care and is able to act in accordance with the principles of good occupational health care practice when planning and implementing nursing work that maintains and rehabilitates the health and working capacity of the working age and the work community.
-knows the service process of occupational health care and works in occupational health cooperation.
-is able to identify the significance of work, working conditions, the work community, and unemployment for the health and working capacity of the working age population.
-is able to plan and implement a workplace visit and, on the basis of it, plan other occupational health care services, provide guidance and counseling, and make the necessary development proposals to promote the health and working capacity of clients (individual, work community, workplace).
-is able to plan and carry out some exposure-based and work-maintaining health examinations.
-is able to work in multi-professional and multi-disciplinary work communities and in various cooperation networks.
-is able to implement occupational health-focused medical care.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
-knows the main regulations related to occupational health care and is able to act in accordance with the principles of good occupational health care practice when planning and implementing occupational health care work that maintains and rehabilitates the health and working capacity of the working age and the work community.
-is familiar with the occupational health care service process and is able to cooperate in occupational health independently.
-is able to identify and (partially) assess the importance of work, working conditions and the work community, as well as unemployment, for the health and working capacity of the working age population.
-is able to plan and implement a workplace visit and, on the basis of it, plan and implement the necessary other occupational health care services, provide expert guidance and counseling and make the necessary development proposals in occupational health co-operation to promote the health and working capacity of clients (individual, work community, workplace).
-is able to plan and carry out key exposure-based and work-maintaining health examinations.
-is able to work in multi-professional and multi-disciplinary work communities and in various cooperation networks.
-is able to implement occupational health-focused medical care.

The student
-does not have sufficient knowledge of the main regulations related to occupational health care to be able to plan and implement health care work that maintains and rehabilitates the health and working capacity of the working age and the work community in accordance with them.
-does not know the occupational health care service process and does not know how to work in occupational health cooperation with the client.
-is not recognizing and not able to assess the importance of work, working conditions and the work community to the health and working capacity of the working age well enough.
-is not able to plan and carry out a workplace visit and, on the basis of it, plan the necessary other occupational health care services, provide guidance and counseling and make the necessary development proposals to promote the health and working capacity of clients (individual, work community, workplace).
-is not able to plan and carry out key exposure-based and work-maintaining health examinations.
-is not able to work in multi-professional and multi-disciplinary work communities and in various cooperation networks.
-is not able to implement occupational health-focused nursing.
