Objective

Competence in structural engineering
The student knows how to use CAD programmes. The student knows the characteristics of and differences between "traditional" drawings and BIM and the rules governing modelling.

Competence in the construction process
The student knows how to work in a construction project based on BIM. They understand the principles of BIM in the project and know the basics of BIM programs.
The student understands the roles and tasks of people taking part in a BIM project.

Content

- Using CAD more efficiently
- The basic use of BIM tools applicable for different sized subjects; the basics of BIM
(architectural and structural models)
- Basics of model checking programs
- Applying YTV

Building Construction, Construction Planning.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student has the basic competencies in the use and exploitation of CAD and BIM in structural engineering and at construction sites.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to use CAD and produce a BIM model and to analyze a finished model.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to produce and use CAD programmes and BIM models in a diversified way in different situations. The student is able to apply what they have learned in practical situations.
