Objective

On completion of the course, the student will,
- be able to identify the principles of material selection and design
- Be able to select a cost-effective material and manufacturing method for a part
- Be able to carry out simulated strength analysis of parts and optimise structures

Materials Engineering 1, Strength of Materials 1 and Materials Engineering 2

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Level 1-2: The student can identify the demands which are related to the material choice.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Level 3-4: The student can perform the choice of material process and can justify his choice.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Level 5: The student can perform the choice of material process well and the demands of the usage environment and manufacturing technique of the product are able to adapt paying attention to the alternatives of the choice process.
