Objective

Students will understand the fundamental principles of statics. They will be competent in applying the theory of statics to statically determined structures

Content

Basic principles of statics. Statics of a particle. Moment of a force. Equilibrium of a rigid body. Friction. Center of gravity calculations. Stress of a beam. Combining of force systems.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student masters the basic ideas of statics and is able to apply them on solving ordinary problems.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows well the basic ideas and methods of statics and is able to apply them to solving different types of problems and is able to combine the accumulated knowledge and skills with previous experiences in the subject.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is very well familiar with the concepts and methods of statics, and is able to apply them to a variety of different questions and problems. The student has demonstrated innovativity when applying things learned.
