Machine elementsLaajuus (4 cr)
Code: KL25AB40000
Objective
Students will understand the structure and functions of the most common standardised components used in mechanical engineering. They will be competent in applying the mechanics of materials in dimensioning and designing machine components. Students will also be competent in making an FEM analysis of a structure they design
Content
Revision of mechanics of materials,
dimensioning of power transmissionshafts, checking fatigue endurance, gears, roller bearings, couplings, power transmission with belts and chains, dimensioning of a welded joint
Qualifications
Statics, Mechanics of materials.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
A satisfactory grade is reached by showing an ability to solve simple construction problems. in addition to that the given design exercise must be accomplished adequately.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
A good grade is reached by conpleting the given desing exercise well and solving the given examination problems so that at least of 60 % of the maximum evaluation points are reached.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
An excellent grade provides an excellent accomplishment of the given design exercise. In addition to that the student must reach at least 80 % of the maximum evaluation points.
