Objective

Students understand the meaning of quantitative research and are to apply it to research and development activities.

Content

Research designs, concepts and theoretical frameworks. Quantitative data, their analysis and interpretation.

Is introduced during the course.

Teaching methods

The course material consist of lectures, literature and practical training tasks. These and the task(s) that the passing of the course requires are explained when the course begins.

Possibly visiting lecturers and working life oriented tasks.

International connections

Textual and visual material or visiting lecturers in other than Finnish language are possible.

Students can describe the principles and stages of quantitative research.

Students are able to compare types of quantitative research and select quantitative methods that are suitable for the research objectives.

Students are able to critically evaluate types of quantitative research and make use of various quantitative research methods
