Objective

Competence in structural engineering
Students understand the special properties of timber. They are able to perform simple dimensioning of load-bearing timber structures.

Competence in the construction process
Students know the principles of standard guidance for timber structures. They are able to utilize information technology in the design of timber structures.

Content

- material properties of timber
- fundamentals of structural design of timber structures
- beam and column design. Support pressure.
- fundamentals of joint design. Nail connection.
- limit values ​​of structural deflections

Students are able to solve problems related to the basic content of the course that are similar to the assignments dealt with during the course.

In addition to the above criteria, students have a comprehensive understanding of the content of the course. They are able to choose the right methods to solve problems related to the course content and to give reason for their solutions in a logical way.
