Objective

The students deepens their multidisciplinary knowledge of gerontology. The student's speech and actions reflect an understanding of the diversity of older people. The student can explain which factors are associated with the decline in health and functional capacity and, based on this, can target evidence-based actions to maintain health and functional capacity. The student can comprehensively analyze and assess the increasing need for support among the older people and the reasons leading to it. The student is familiar with the cultural factors that must be considered when working as a gerontological expert within the service system and society.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student recognizes the specific characteristics of gerontological expertise needed in the service system and society. The student can describe aging changes and the main factors that impair the functional capacity of older adults, as well as the interventions affecting them, based on general literature. The student demonstrates an understanding of diversity and the individual needs of older people in his/her speech. The student participates in discussions on multidisciplinary gerontological perspectives.

The student comprehensively recognizes the specific characteristics of gerontological expertise needed in the service system and society. The student can describe aging changes and the main factors that impair the functional capacity of older people, as well as the interventions affecting them, based on research literature. The student demonstrates an understanding of diversity in this/her speech and justifies the individual needs of older people through evidence-based actions. The student actively participates in multidisciplinary gerontological discussions during the course, examines issues comprehensively, and brings new perspectives to the common discussion.

The student broadly describes the specific characteristics of gerontological expertise needed in the service system and society, integrating his/her own activities into this context. The student can comprehensively describe aging changes and the main factors that impair the functional capacity of older people, as well as the interventions affecting them, based on the latest international research literature. The student demonstrates an understanding of diversity in their speech and justifies the individual needs of older people through evidence-based actions. The student actively participates in multidisciplinary gerontological discussions during the course, examines issues comprehensively and critically, brings new perspectives to the common discussion, and presents well-founded solutions and development suggestions.
