Objective

Competence in structural engineering
Students are able to dimension key log and CLT structures in terms of ultimate and serviceability limits. Students understand the behavior of log and CLT structures in fire situations.

Content

- dimensioning of log beams at the ultimate limit state and at the service limit state
- effect of notches and supporting area in timber structures
- dimensioning of CLT slabs, beams, and wall at the ultimate limit state and at the service limit state
- behaviour of massive timber structures in case of fire

Qualifications

Recommended background knowledge: Timber Structures 1, Basics of Massive Timber Structures.

Students are able to solve tasks related to the basics of the course, similar to the tasks in the course.

In addition to the abilities above, students are able to apply the basics of the course in different tasks and to give reasons for their solutions.

In addition to the abilities above, students have a comprehensive idea of the topics of the course. They are able to choose right methods to solve problems presented in the course and to give reasons for their solutions in a logical manner.
