Objective
Competence in structural engineering
Students deepen their knowledge and skills in the designing of concrete structures.
Content
- measuring columns and pile footing, two-way slabs, column slabs, fundaments and ground slabs at the ultimate limit state
- flow line theory of slabs
- design and operating principles of strained concrete structures
- joints in concrete structures
- the basics of the design of masonry structures
- Introduction of and guidance in using computer-aided programmes for structural design
Qualifications
Concrete Structures 1.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Students are able to apply the fundamentals of reinforced concrete and masonry structure design. Students can dimension simple reinforced concrete structures. They can read reinforced concrete structure drawings and understand the significance of design in construction projects.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Students are able to dimension various reinforced concrete and masonry structures. Students can take element structures into account in their designs. Students can produce drawings based on given assignments
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
In addition to the above, the students have a good command of the subject matter and are able to apply what they have learned. They are also able to analyze the connections between different issues. They are able to conduct multifaceted analyses and draw conclusions based on the issues they have learned about.
